The 7iDP Flex Shorts provide protection to the hips, thighs and coccyx (the triangular bone at the base of your spine). The polygon foam layout of the protection ensures moveability and a better fit. I ride lots of rocky, technical singletrack and I don't like getting banged up and losing time on the bike while I heal so I got these shorts for a bit of extra protection. I've tumbled a couple of times with them on, once landing hard on my hip and although my hip was a little bit tender the next day it was a big improvement from similar crashes that I had in the past and it didn't keep me from riding. A big bonus is that they have the best crotch pad that I've ever had. I'm ordering a backup pair to make sure that I have them available.

Awesome design and durability. Just did not get what I ordered, that's why 4 stars. These shorts are solid black with no blue stripping at all. Only the logos are blue. Was very disappointed at first, but I actually like this black look.
