Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR Tubeless Tire (Black/Transparent) (700c) (28mm)
Just picked up my second set of GP5000s. I am replacing my first set at 3500 mi. I have them on my race bike with ENVE 45 hookless carbon rims, and never have had a single issue. The roads here can be pretty bad. I've ridden them on intense training rides and races as well as long endurance rides. I have lost just about every race I've been in but it's not because of these tires. They are the perfect balance of durable and fast and have held up extremely well.

At 3500 miles the rear tire wear marks are completely gone and there is just a hint of the front one still left. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I checked my Strava Stats to see I had gotten so many miles out of them, I would have been happy with 2500. They are a little bit on the pricier side but having gone this far without ever getting one flat, and the roads here suck, you definitely get what you pay for.

The only thing I'm doing different this time around is getting the tan sidewall, and that's just because they look cooler.

Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR Tubeless Tire (Black/Transparent) (700c) (25mm)
I originally gave these tires a two-star review (see below). Someone recommended I try Orange Original sealant to see if it seals the 2mm cut. It did! Whereas Stans just kept oozing out of the hole and the pressure dropped overnight, and whereas another brand of sealant didn't do anything, Orange worked immediately. No oozing, no pressure loss. Just rode 40 miles on the cut tire and there was no loss of pressure or sealant. So now I am rating these 5-stars since the ride is fabulous.

--- (original rating) ---

I love the speed and comfort of these tires. I ran them tubeless and thought they were great. EXCEPT - just as with the 5000 non-tubeless tires, I got punctures right away. On my second ride, I got a relatively small cut (2mm) on the tread of one tire. Stans Sealant wouldn't permanently seal - it closed enough to get me home but couldn't hold pressure. Tried a galvanizing patch. That didn't work. These awesome tires are now not tubeless and unfortunately, when I was riding on the regular 5000 tires, I got punctures on literally half my rides. I expect that would happen with these STR tires too. Guess I'm done riding these now because it just isn't worth the risk to me anymore.

If you're racing on swept surfaces, these tires are magical. If you're riding on street shoulders and bikes paths, expect to be fixing flats.
