In May, 2004, Kendall and Kelly Bennett started AMain Hobbies out of their 2-car garage in sunny Chico, California. Kendall, with his passion for RC hobbies, having a software engineering degree and experience running a successful software development company, decided to start the company of his dreams. Kelly, coming from an extensive customer service and human resources background, pitched in with helping customers by phone and filled orders, while Kendall worked his wizardry with the website.

The company grew quickly; mostly from word of mouth of RC racers on forums. AMain gained its quality reputation by maintaining a broad selection of inventory, delivering excellent customer service, providing expedited shipping at reasonable rates, and giving back to the RC community by sponsoring races and charitable events.

In addition to his interest in RC, Kendall is a longtime bicycle enthusiast and in 2014 AMain entered into cycling with the purchase of Cyclesport, Chico and eventually the launch of amaincycling.com and the purchase of PerformanceBike.com in 2019.

Chico, California

For a small city, Chico has an incredibly vibrate cycling scene. Nestled at the foot of the Cascades, Chico boasts a variety of terrain options from massive climbing to pancake flat farmlands. For MTB, Bidwell Park offers a challenging yet rewarding network of trails that has been known to produce some of the regions finest bike handlers. Chico’s central location makes it perfect for daytrips to Downieville, Lassen National Park, and Mount Shasta. Chico is home to the main segment of Performance Bicycle operations with our headquarters, distribution center, and retail store.

Charlotte, North Carolina

With no shortage of riding options, Charlotte is a cycling mecca. For the dirt-inclined riders among us, the region is home to miles of singletrack and a daytrip to Brevard brings you straight into the middle of a world-class network of trails. For roadies, the calendar is packed with group rides every day of the week. Performance Bicycle’s Charlotte distribution center provides an important strategic role, allowing us to offer fast shipping and service to the East Coast.
