How to Find Shimano Bike Part Weights
Fellow weight weenies rejoice! As we’ve seen, Shimano is sometimes tight-lipped about the weights of their products, especially when those numbers are not something “worth” promoting. However, they still publish nearly all the weights on their technical Product Website. And best of all, it’s visible to the public – no need for special logins. Just follow the instructions below and you can look up the weight of nearly any product that Shimano has on the market today*.
*Entry-level products often do not have published weights; however, higher-end products almost always have a weight listed.
Step 1
- Navigate to productinfo.shimano.com
Step 2
- Click on Specifications
Step 3
- Click on the search button in the top right corner
Step 4
- Enter the model number of the Shimano product.
- You can find this model number in the title of nearly all Shimano products.
Step 5
- Press enter and choose your model from the list on the right
(if there are multiple options to choose from)
Step 6
- Scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see a spec for average weight. This is always in grams and is presented as an average because it is possible for there to be some discrepancy between each individual product. Shimano is usually good about publishing weights that are fairly accurate.
