Industry Nine Torch Hydra Rear MTB IS Disc Hubs have way more engagement and about 20% less less drag and resistance compared to its cousin, Industry Nine's Torch. One of the first and most noticeable improvements besides those things is the easy-access of the internals of the hub. In seconds, you can have internals of the hub opened up and the pawls and the drive ring right in front of you  to clean and lubricate. You seriously just slide the cassette off the body of the hub and remove it from your wheel -- isn't that crazy? You could access the internals of the freehub on the trail. If you lubricate the pawls with grease instead of oil, the sound is basically silent! Here's a video with an example of the sounds that the Hydra Torch Hub can produce:

The drive ring has 115 little teeth, (compared to 60 on the torch) and there's six pawls. 115 x 6 pawl engagement equals a total of 690 points of engagement. This is by far the highest points of engagement on the market. The pawls As soon as you go to pedal, using single pawl engagement, a single pawl is used as a fulcrum so the drive system is never relying on a single point of contact.

Features:

  • Featuring Hydra internals, 115-tooth drive ring and 6-pawls, designed around a traditional flanged hub
  • 690 P.O.E. Hydra Freehub body engages every .52 degrees yielding telepathic control
  • Angled flanges for lower spoke stress and large diameter disc flange improves wheel stiffness and brake torque transfer
  • Hydra freehub is a quicker engagement, is a few grams lighter, and has about 20% less less drag and resistance compared to the Torch
  • 6-bolt/44mm-BCD International Standard disc mounting dimensions
  • 4 bearing rear
  • Easily serviced with no proprietary tools. Designed to keep you in the saddle and out of the service queue
  • Made in Asheville, NC USA
