Park Tool PCS-12.2 Home Mechanic Bench Mount Repair Stand (Blue)

I love this thing. I got mine probably 2019. There was a way they wanted to make the stand pivot in three dimensions, but it wasn't locked in on the third dimension. This was causing stability problems when you wanted to bear down on the bike certain ways. The Park people were very helpful, and Performance gave me a $50 credit. We had a three-way conference call! I have an intermediary piece I no longer use (came across it the other day). I would have guessed Park had shipped me a new unit until I saw that, hah.

Whatever the details, what I have now matches the pic. The way this works is that the clamp is about like vise-grips, adjust once and then it's just in and out every time--with the option to ratchet the clamp tighter/ looser very easily by spinning the small crank. I usually clamp to the seat post rather than the top tube the way the pic has it. When you lube the chain after a ride and you want to wipe the chain, you can turn the pedal forward instead of backward as you would if you were lubing the chain with the bike stationary on the ground. Seems more locked in, but I'm not sure that's scientific.

This is more rigid than other types of stand. I've had the tri-pod and it was fine. One caveat is that the straps you wrap around the bottom bracket deteriorated over time. That one also doesn't let you turn the bike upside down to lube or clean a certain place the way this one and the traditional one do.

This takes up very little space, but it does protrude out a bit, so you could walk into it. I keep a broom in the clamp when not in use! Tools are handy on your workbench. You can clean your bike in comfort no matter the weather. Or you miss cleaning it outside on a sunny day. Take your pick.
