SRAM PC-830 Chain (Silver) (6-8 Speed) (114 Links) (w/ Power Link)

I've bought a few of these chains for my old bikes. I just installed this one after 1,600 road miles on the previous one.

Conditions:
1,600 road miles.
No significant wet riding.
Did NOT measure chain stretch.
Did not remove original lubrication and NEVER lubed the chain.
Ancient 6-speed Shimano drivetrain.
I did not use the supplied "quick link."

Results:
I decided to not lube the chain mostly as an experiment. I figured I would wait until the chain got squeaky, rusty, or otherwise performed badly. It never did. No surprise, new chain was noticeably quieter, but not dramatically. I did lightly run a nylon bristle brush along the chain a few times to knock any grit off. The lateral play was obvious but had no meaningful consequences in shift quality. As mentioned, I did not measure stretch, but there didn't appear to be additional wear on the chainrings or freewheel cogs. I had no issues with the new chain skipping.

Summary:
Durable, works well, inexpensive. I will continue to buy them for my other 1980s bikes.

New chains, great price. They do what you'd expect SRAM-branded chains to do. ;-)
