Bell's Super Air R MIPS helmet was designed from the ground up to push the boundaries of performance and versatility. With class-leading flex spherical MIPS technology, superior ventilation, a total weight that is 22% or 144 grams lighter than its predecessor and an easy 2-click removable chin bar, this is a true all-mountain performer.

Features:
  • 18 helmet vents, 8 chin bar vents, 4 brow ports
  • Overbrow ventilation features intake ports on the brow of the helmet to usher in cool air and push it through the air-channel matrix for full-head ventilation
  • Flex spherical + MIPS - comprehensive energy management - flex spherical enhances our ability to address high-speed impacts, low-speed impacts, as well as rotational impacts. Think of it as comprehensive protection, with the added bonus of being able to design better helmet ventilation.
  • Fusion in-mold polycarbonate shell - a process pioneered by bell bonds the helmet's outer shell to the EPS foam liner to create a sturdier helmet.
  • Progressive layering: the process of engineering a helmet liner with variable EPS foam densities to better manage the transfer of energies after some impacts
  • X-static padding - quick-drying materials, woven with real silver fibers, inhibit growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungi
  • Float fit - a minimalist, lightweight fit system with an easy-to-turn rubber overmolded dial for adjustments (integrated with MIPS)
  • Goggle guide adjustable visor accommodates both goggles and glasses
  • CPSC bicycle complaint
  • Wraparound chin bar

Bell Super Air R MIPS Helmet (Red/Grey) (L)
I do not normally write reviews but i read them religiously to make decisions on purchases. I wanted to write this one because i felt like i have valuable info for someone thinking about this purchase. I am a 47 yr old male who has been riding MTB for 2 yrs. Mostly single track at a local state park. a friend of mine was seriously injured in a crash and crushed his face so i decided it was time to go full face. I do not do down hill so i wanted something light and comfortable for trail riding. I originally ordered the Kali invader. It was well built and looked good but without the mips liner it was extremely uncomfortable. I returned it and ordered the Bell super air R. It is a good looking helmet, built well and WAY more comfortable. I am using it for normal trail riding with no issues. It is light and cool and i do not even think about it when I am riding. A friend of mine and I decided to go to a bike park for the first time the other day. We were doing some drops which were probably above our skill level. I landed wrong off of one of them and shot off the trail and hit a tree dead on center. It all happened extremely fast but i remember seeing the tree right in my face. I hit so i hard that i am pretty sure i broke my sternum but my face was not hurt. I did not realize at the time that i was injured, i just thought it hurt. We continued to ride and later in the day i stupidly decided to try a 4' jump. I crashed horribly. I went OTB and landed on my head. I do not remember hitting my face but i apparently did because one of the buckles that hold the chin bar on was knocked loose. I ended up in the ER with a broken collar bone, rib, and a shattered Sternum. My knee was also trashed. I had CT scans on my entire body. My head, neck and face were all fine. I wish i could say the same about the rest of me. So, from my experience, this is a great, comfortable helmet that worked perfectly when i needed it most. I am positive that this helmet saved me from major facial damage and probably a traumatic head injury. I will never ride again without a full face helmet, even casual trail rides, and I highly recommend the Bell super air R
